Terrible, terrible service. My Father is at home in the last stages of his life and Heartland Hospice does not have anyone giving him or my Mother the type of care I would expect someone who's dying to get.

They send out an "Aide" and a "Nurse" 3 days a week but all on the same day! So there are 4 more days when they are along. What is the logic behind this? My Mother has been left to take care of everything all by herself.

My Father is not coherent and cannot move on his own and my Mother, who has a bad back, can't do it by herself. So when he needs to be "cleaned" from various body functions or the sheets changed he just sits in it until someone comes there and helps her. This is such a terrible way to treat my Father and Mother while he lays Dying in his bed. Yesterday, early afternoon, the Doctor determined that he was in pain, although he could not express it himself, and as of 10:00 PM last night his pain medication was still not delivered!

Over 10 hours and still no meds! To just "Dump" all this on my Mother to do by herself is quite overwhelming for her but all they do is promise to check into having more help yet nothing changes. His death is imminent and Heartland does not seem to care. All they seem to be concerned about is getting paid and doing as little work as possible so their financials look good.

I would definitely NOT recommend this facility to anyone. I highly recommend that you look somewhere else for a company that actually cares about their patients.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Heartland Hospice Cons: Treatment of my dying father.

Hospice is not a 24/7 continuous service - it takes a village for d dying loved one to be cared at home and often falls on spouses - children often have to step in and assist. All that should have probably been clarified at admission.

Assisted living and skilled nursing homes are available for 24 hour round the clock care not hospice. Hospice is only to compliment care already provided wether itโ€™s through a facility or family not take over care.

Hospice does not exist to be there 24/7, unless you go to an inpatient facility. Perhaps seeking private care is needed.
